Pumpkins! Pumpkins! Pumpkins!!!

With October right around the corner, and the best weather a year can see, I cannot help but swoon at these pictures of all you can do with a pumpkin! The more I keep seeing pumpkins in the big, tall, cardboard boxes, the more I want to roll up my sleeves, dive in, and paint, plant, or carve! I cannot wait to get started!

These are paper pumpkins. Click on the link to see just how to make them.

A Little Scotch To See The Possibilities

My Grandpa Cook is quite a character. I could never make up the stories about him through my childhood and even adult life. This is one of my favorite stories. Hope you laugh just as much as I do when I think about it!

My grandfather wears glasses, has a full head of white hair, has worked his whole life hardly ever taking a vacation, he is not a big man in height or in weight, he is a wise man, and not a vain bone in his body until he discovered a drooping eyebrow. This drooping problem was only noticed by him, no one else. He was bothered by this and figured he would have it fixed. Cosmetic surgery, he thought and told us it just very well could help him see better. We just laughed and brushed it off thinking he would be logical and not do it. However he proved us wrong but nonetheless, he tested the waters out first. You see, he is a man that needs to know what it will be like in his new face, so, he found a way to see the possibility.

I am not sure if to this day he knows we know this, but it has brought me much joy in my life. While working in his home office, he got the clever idea to use scotch tape to tape up his eyebrow and see how working with this new vision could be. He forgot about it and went walking around the house with it still there and very visible! Maryann asks him what he is doing and as serious as he can be, although giggling a little, he proceeds to tell her he just wanted to check out the possibilities....

He came to his senses and didn't go through with it. I am sure he felt silly and realized he is an old man who didn't need to have any corrective surgery, I mean who wouldn't want to look wise at (soon to be) 84?
