Jewel

I am sitting on the couch, beside me is a four legged, long tailed, blue eyed, brindle beauty named Jewel. She is asleep, something she has become very fond of these days. On nights like tonight (rainy, cold, lazy...dreading tomorrows work day), there could be nothing more perfect than a sleeping puppy piled up with you. She is a wonderful foot warmer and snuggler. I am sure if I were not upstairs right now, she would be doing this very thing at the foot of my bed. It is nights like this that make me love dogs even more.

Tonight, before Jewel crashed, she stole the pot holder from the kitchen counter, threw her bone in the air and pounced on it about 23 times, as well as fishing it out of the open draw of the armourer. She has barked at me, nudged me, and licked me. She is a happy dog, a very lovable dog.

Yesterday she and I had a fight. You would have thought I was in the woods fighting a wild boar. She ripped my pants and cut my leg (with her foot, not her teeth) all while fighting me not to go in. You see, Jewel is having a potty issue in the house and she needs to be crated again...she apparently thought differently about the situation. She won the battle of the crate, made me very angry and late to work. I was bothered by this all day and couldn't stop thinking of the traumatic morning we had. When I got home, she was excited and scared to see me, fearful I was only back to shove her in the monster again. We had a talk and things are back to normal with us again. She actually spent the evening at my feet on the couch loving on me....all of which she hasn't done since she was a little puppy. I think this is what has brought tonight on. And I am loving it.

So she is peeing in the house, if that is the worst thing, I think I can try to manage while she is re-potty training once again. So lunches may be spent at home, and I will rush out the door from work, and pray the whole way that she used her potty pad (which I REALLY hate). As long as she doesn't lose her sweet, humorous character, I will manage just fine. I just hope when I have kids it is not like this....
